Kern Health Systems hires new Chief Operating Officer

Bakersfield - Kern Health Systems continues to implement its goal of being a community health partner in Kern County by both its financial and service endeavors.
Kern Health Systems is pleased to announce the hiring of their new Chief Operating Officer: Alan Avery. Mr. Avery is a seasoned managed care executive with extensive knowledge and experience in Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) operations. He brings to Kern Health Systems over 30 years of working successfully in health care management having served in different executive leadership roles with several health plans over his career. Most recently, Mr. Avery served as the Chief Operating Officer with GEMCare Health Plan and Managed Care Systems here in Kern County.
As COO with Kern Health Systems, Mr. Avery will oversee all operational functions including Enrollment, Claims, Member Services, Marketing, Provider Relations, Compliance and Regulatory Affairs. Mr. Avery will report directly to the CEO, Doug Hayward, who stated, "Alan's background and experience will benefit Kern Health Systems greatly. Kern Health Systems rapid growth in its Kern Family Health Care coverage program presents significant challenges to our internal operations for which Alan is eminently qualified to manage. We are excited to have Alan as part of our executive staff and look forward to his contribution".
