Kern Health Systems Commits $25 Million to Health Care Providers with COVID-19 Financial Relief Program

Bakersfield, CA: Kern Health Systems (KHS) has been closely monitoring the unprecedented events resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. A key component that is being tracked daily is the access to care for Kern Family Health Care members, now and in the future. In an effort to support its network of providers of care for the more than #258,000 members served, KHS implemented a $25 Million COVID-19 Provider Financial Relief Program.
Many KHS network providers continue to experience a financial loss from medical appointments and elective procedures being cancelled or postponed. “Our network of providers are doing what’s necessary to serve our members and their patients and we must do our part to support this effort,” said Doug Hayward, CEO of Kern Health Systems. “Kern Health Systems will provide $25,000,000 in advance payments to primary and specialty care providers, FQHC clinics and other network providers financially harmed from the COVID-19 pandemic.”
One local provider noted, “I would like to thank Kern Health Systems for considering us for the COVID-19 Financial Relief Program, and commend the organization for such a quick response. We really appreciate your professionalism, it is an honor for us to help and serve your members.”
