Bakersfield, CA: Kern Health Systems is excited to announce the Groundbreaking Ceremony on Thursday, October 26th at 11:00am at the site of their future office building. The location of the Groundbreaking Ceremony, and future home, will be at 2900 Buck Owens Blvd.

The new 112,000 square foot office building, expected to be completed by summer of 2019, will be the home of Kern Health Systems' growing team of employees and will have the accommodations to continue to service and interact directly with their membership base in a central and easily accessed location. The goals for the new office building include creating a flexible and efficient facility, with an emphasis on sustainable design. KHS is seeking LEED Certification by the United States Green Building Council. Sustainable features include: maximizing use of natural daylight, native plant material, storm water management, high performance glazing, solar screening and water conserving plumbing fixtures and irrigation systems.

The KHS Board of Directors, along with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Doug Hayward, are looking forward to this expansion and the positive rewards it will bring to Kern County. The Chair of the Kern Health Systems Governing Board, Larry Rhoades, welcomed this expansion by stating, "We are very proud of what will be our future home. The building design concept incorporates a central courtyard as an organizing element for the interior spaces and maximizes the use of natural daylight. The exterior design will improve this area of town that so many residents and visitors see next to the iconic Bakersfield sign." KHS CEO Doug Hayward added, "For the past 4 years, Kern Health Systems employees have served our members, providers and community from two separate locations in Bakersfield. It's with much excitement and anticipation that we await to move into one facility again that can accommodate our talented, hardworking and dedicated staff."

Kern Health Systems, the County Health Authority, is an independent public agency that governs Kern Family Health Care, the Health Plan of more than #245,000 members.
