Kern Health Systems announces new Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Board and the reappointment of Directors

Bakersfield – 11/18/2016: Kern Health Systems, the County Health Authority, is an independent public agency that governs Kern Family Health Care. The Board of Directors, of Kern Health Systems, are appointed by the Kern County Board of Supervisors and has included major health care stakeholders; including physicians, safety-net providers, hospitals, pharmacies and community representatives.

The Vice Chairman, Larry Rhoades, has recently become the Chairman of the Board. Mr. Rhoades serves as a Community Representative for the 3rd District, appointed by Supervisor Mike Maggard. He is currently retired and has served on the Kern Health Systems Board of Directors since May, 2011.

Director Timothy McGlew has recently become the Vice-Chairman of the Board. Mr. McGlew is the CEO of the Kern Valley Healthcare District, and is a provider designated Board member representing "Rural Acute Care General Hospitals" and has served since December, 2013.

Board Officers of Kern Health Systems serve 3-year terms.

In addition, Kern Health Systems is pleased to announce the following Director reappointments by the Kern County Board of Supervisors:

  • Ms. Cindy Stewart - Safety Net Care Provider Representative
  • Mr. Timothy McGlew - Rural Acute Care General Hospital within Kern County Representative
  • Dr. William Nyitray – Traditional Medi-Cal Primary Care Representative (Outside Metropolitan Bakersfield)
  • Dr. Philipp Melendez – Traditional Medi-Cal Primary Care Representative (Metropolitan Bakersfield)
