Description: Under the direction of the Kern Health Systems Administrative Director of Health Services and the UM Outpatient Clinical Supervisor, the Behavioral Health Clinical Intake Coordinator (BHCIC) will be responsible to provide utilization oversight and review of applied behavior analysis services to members diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other behavioral and mental health conditions.
The BHCIC will conducts medical necessity review of referral requests including but not limited to requests for outpatient therapies and prior authorizations for outpatient behavioral health procedures. They will assist members and families with service coordination, linkage to resources or other needed services and mental health advocacy. Responsible for coordinating care between providers and scheduling appropriate meetings and organizing/managing packet information required under State contracted entity. Refers cases to the KHS Medical Director when clinical information does not support medical necessity. Functions as a key resource to the Clinical Intake Coordinators for questions or clarifications on criteria, interpretation of benefits, or whenever they need additional clinical expertise and/or guidance.
Requirements: Minimum of two years (2) full-time experience as a Behavior Therapist in home, community and or in school settings. Experience working with patients and caregivers regarding Applied Behavior Analysis. Experience working in case management or care coordination is a plus. Knowledge of Kern County Community resources for families and children with ASD and disabilities is a plus. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school or equivalent in a psychology, Behavioral health field or related healthcare field preferred. Board Certified or other Certification in Behavioral Therapy required. Experience may be substituted on a year by year basis. Valid California Driver License and proof of State required auto liability. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
