Description: Under limited direction and supervision, the Network Administrator is responsible for all telecommunication and data network administration for Kern Health Systems (KHS) including: design, implementation, configuration, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, usage, the broadcast and enforcement of network standards, and other work as required.
Incumbents are expected to be proficient in the OSI model and all networking protocols, network firewall security, network analysis and design, network application configuration and integration, telecommunication services and technologies, organizational techniques, network security design and administration, network hardware backup and disaster recovery, and related processes used in the KHS Information Technology Department. The Network Administrator is expected to maintain a conversational familiarity with current technologies and processes of the profession and is expected to provide leadership and supervision among the staff of the department. Incumbent may be varied and widely dispersed and requires organization, scheduling, supervision abilities, and may prepare and conduct formal training programs as required.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field form an accredited school or equivalent and three (3) years of paid networking experience in a medium to large data environment Education can be substituted with networking work experience on a year for year basis.
Proficiency must be demonstrated with Cisco or Juniper networking equipment installation, design, troubleshooting, and maintenance. CCNP preferred.
